I Love Supporting Actors: Terry Crews

You know, this guy:
Notable Roles:

Guy singing in other car - "Click"

President Camacho - "Idiocracy"

Julius Rock - "Everybody Hates Chris"

Hackman - "Gamer"

Why He's Awesome:

No man so physically intimidating is more willing to make himself look so ridiculous. Just look at him. He looks like he'd crush your head with his bare hand, but I'll bet he'd more likely crush you by accidentally hugging you too zealously.

I would make the argument "Idiocracy" couldn't have been made if Terry Crews wasn't an actor. Even when Schwarzenegger was honing his comedy chops, he never could have pulled off king of the morons like Crews. He goes for comedy bigger than most, definitely more than any other comedically gigantic actors. Only a man like Crews can simultaneously play the domineering yet paternal father on "Everybody Hates Chris" and the homicidal mania of Hackman in "Gamer." Guys like him work because they look so distinctive, but guys like him keep working because they clearly work on and care about acting.

You'd Be Surprised to Learn:

He used to play for the NFL. (maybe you did know this, but it surprised the hell out of me)

Check out his imdb page.

This guy cracked me up in "Balls of Fury" as Freddy "Fingers" Wilson and he was the only good thing in that monstrosity of a film "The Expendables" as Hale Caesar.

"The Expendables" was awesome. Take your movie snobbery to a blog that cares.
